It is understood that the Municipal Consumer Protection Committee accepted a consumer complaint caused by the lack of "furniture manual." A consumer purchased a marble coffee table in October 2005. Consumers who use the wet cloth to wipe off the product markings on the marble countertops, use other methods to remove them, but the tabletop is scratched. Consumers and furniture malls hold their own words on how to assume relevant responsibilities. Consumers believe that the operator did not inform the correct maintenance and use of furniture. As a result, the responsibility for the damage to the countertop should not be attributed to the consumer. The furniture shopping mall believes that the countertops are caused by the incorrect method of the consumers of the scraping system to clear the labels, and the responsibility should be borne by the consumers themselves.

The Municipal Consumer Protection Committee believes that according to the "Consumer Protection Law," furniture stores have not fulfilled their statutory obligations that the operator should state and indicate the correct use of goods. After mediation and consultation, the furniture store has replaced countertops for consumers.

The Municipal Consumer Protection Committee reminded consumers that three things must be done to purchase furniture: First, remember to ask for the "Furniture Instruction Manual." According to national regulations, since October 1, 2005, furniture operators must provide consumers with a "Furniture Instruction Manual" when selling furniture. Second, read the instructions carefully. According to the regulations, the “Furniture Operation Manual” should indicate the name of the furniture, the name and address of the production unit, the formaldehyde content of the furniture, the main components, and the contact information of the after-sales service. The third is the correct use of furniture products according to the "Furniture Instruction Manual."
