Dialogue top entrepreneurs: change lives to live and change pressure

There are a large number of companies in China, and the leaders of enterprises and enterprises are the key to China's transformation in the future and the sustainable growth of the economy in the next 30 years.

In the summer of 2014, the Davos Forum, in the TV Forum “China: The Next Innovative Country”, which was first cooperated with the Forum, the host, the Deputy Editor-in-Chief of the First Financial Daily, Yang Yanqing, and the Executive Director of the Chinese Enterprise Club Ma Weihua, Ernst & Young Global Chairman and CEO Mark Weinberger, Neusoft Chairman and CEO Liu Jiren, Tsinghua Holdings Chairman Xu Jinghong, and LinkedIn Global Vice President and China President Shen Boyang jointly on the entrepreneurial spirit of Chinese entrepreneurs, Chinese companies Discussion on the innovation environment and innovation mechanism.

Exploring entrepreneurship

Q: I want to start with a challenging question. Neusoft is one of the earliest innovative enterprises in China. It has a very good entrepreneurial spirit and is a long-term unbeaten leader in this industry. In the face of the huge wave of digitization, the change took place overnight. As a veteran software company, in the face of the huge wave, does Neusoft feel pressure on continuous innovation?

Liu Jiren: The age of living in Neusoft in the IT industry is “quite old”. This industry is based on the “Dog Year” industry. Like a dog, it has been a long time in 10 years, and Neusoft has lived for more than 20 years.

Neusoft can live to the present, because we are constantly changing our lives – re-creating a new life every 15 years. To be a leader in a business, his mind is first and foremost sensitive to the environment. When a terrible thing, such as the matter of subverting your own life, you must be fully prepared; the other is to constantly create A talent team that meets the new business development to support transformation and transformation; and a combination of long-term and short-term benefits.

Neusoft used to account for 50% of China's social insurance sector and has the largest market share in hospitals. These are our accumulations. Today, the Internet, cloud computing, and big data are becoming opportunities to push us to create new life again. For example, we are using the original accumulation to construct a new platform for medical services on the Internet.

A company always needs constant change. The long time you live does not necessarily mean that you are old; the short time you live does not mean that you are young. It's like your age is not necessarily old, and you are not necessarily old. The vitality of a company to maintain its vitality lies in its constant curiosity and the constant creation of new development space.

Q: From the perspective of the company leader, what is the most important thing you can bring to Neusoft?

Liu Jiren: The leader of the company is mainly prepared and made choices before the arrival of the “turning point”. Therefore, leaders should spend the most energy to understand the world, understand the trends and trends of the world's development, and make accurate judgments. At the same time, in order to meet this new challenge and transformation, prepare resources, including capital and technology. Human. This is to maintain your constant youth, continuous learning, and constant curiosity.

Question: Next we ask Ma. Mr. Ma has a lot of identities. He is a banker and an entrepreneur. Please tell us, what do Chinese entrepreneurs need now? What is it possible to achieve a very good entrepreneur in China? What also includes what makes you yourself?

Ma Weihua: Compared with the software industry, banks are no longer old, and have a history of 500 years. How does the old tree have a new spring? I think that as an entrepreneur, the most precious thing is his imagination. The key to entrepreneurship is innovation, and innovation requires entrepreneurs to have a rich imagination. This sentence is also told by Mr. Kissinger.

Where does the imagination come from? First comes from the pressure of survival. Therefore, in general, small enterprises, small enterprises, and companies that are on the verge of bankruptcy are the most in need of innovation. Such enterprises should have imagination. Where else does the imagination come from? From your perception of the market, it comes from your understanding of the needs, and this demand is constantly changing according to the development of economy, society and technology.

Entrepreneurs, bankers, no matter how long the company has a long history, entrepreneurs, chairman, and CEO must be young, have curiosity, be fresh, have imagination, and this imagination comes from Curious about this era.

Q: Continue to challenge Ma Zong, your leadership period and the "post-Ma Weihua era". Which period of China Merchants Bank is more imaginative?

Ma Weihua: There is no doubt that after the history, the waves will push forward, and the people behind should sum up the previous lessons, which will definitely be better, otherwise history cannot advance.

Q: The challenge may be different. The challenge you faced at the time was how to let everyone use consumer credit and use personal finance. In the current situation, Internet finance has to subvert the entire traditional bank. You have also said that traditional banking will become a dinosaur.

Ma Weihua: Subversion is a kind of pressure. When I met Bill Gates last month, I said that when I went to China Merchants Bank, your words influenced me for 15 years. At that time, I said Internet finance was Bill Gates in the 1980s. I wanted to use a software company to replace the bank's payment business. He said at the time that if you don't change these traditional banks, you are the dinosaurs that are dying in the 21st century. How much pressure?

We have to change, don't turn into dinosaurs, use our e-commerce at the time to move our business to the Internet, so the outlets are still very few, but the business is very broad. Today, Internet finance has developed. Internet finance is a vulnerable group that has been ignored by traditional banks in the past, and inclusive finance. In the past, traditional banks did not want to do it, and they did not do well. So today, Internet finance has developed, filling this gap, but not satisfied with this, Internet companies are enterprising, from payment to credit, to wealth management. Therefore, for traditional banks, we have no other way out, can only embrace the era of the Internet, and can only transform their own way of thinking. What I want to emphasize is that banks are not sitting still. As long as they turn their thinking into the thinking of the Internet, the ancient banking industry can also rejuvenate.

Q: Please talk to Mr. Shen. From software engineers to entrepreneurs, to the heads of China in the global social networking sites, you have experienced a lot of conversions. In your opinion, do entrepreneurs need different qualities at different stages of the business?

Shen Boyang: I am here more representative of an Internet entrepreneur. Let me talk about the basic qualities that Internet entrepreneurs need to survive in China.

The first is toughness. Every Internet industry in China's Internet industry has a large amount of capital and startups, and the competition is fierce. In the fierce competition process, it is very important to persist and not to give up easily.

The second is the overall situation. Often it takes a long time from start-up to success. As an entrepreneur, you should always be very conscious and always see what the final result is sooner than others.

The third is the pursuit of the ultimate spirit. The core of all Internet companies is the pursuit of the ultimate user experience.

The fourth is to have a dream. If you can't innovate and can't always dream, it's hard for companies to have great development. Innovation includes disruptive innovation and, more importantly, micro-innovation.

The fifth is the vision of internationalization. First, how to learn from foreign good ideas and good business models as soon as possible, a little ahead of the competition; second, bring the good ideas and good products created by China to the world.

Q: Please tell Mr. Xu that you are from a university. The company has huge assets. There are many companies, especially many listed companies. Are you an entrepreneur?

Xu Jinghong: What kind of definition does an entrepreneur have? I don't think entrepreneurs are churches at all. Everyone teaches entrepreneurs how to do it. How can you succeed? I don't think I should listen.

Because the failure of entrepreneurs has commonalities, the success of entrepreneurs is 100% individual. We don't see any two companies having the same quality, they must be different.

We talk about the main business, we talk about the necessary conditions, what qualities are available to entrepreneurs is actually possible, but with these qualities does not necessarily bring out a good business.

In China, I personally think that to become a good entrepreneur, you need three: The first is to have the wisdom of scholars. This is to solve your judgment problem; the second is to have a businessman's thinking. This solves the problem of decision making. The third is to have the action of the rivers and lakes. Rivers and lakes understand the rules, have credibility, and solve the problem of execution. I feel that at least in the Chinese environment, these three are indispensable, otherwise it is impossible to do a good job.

Q: Let me tell you about Mr. Mark Weinberger. What is the difference between Chinese entrepreneurs and foreign entrepreneurs?

Mark Weinberger: We have such a plan that allows me to find a culture of entrepreneurship around the world to see what works and what doesn't; what is environmentally viable and what is not? Five of the world's winners are in Asia, including Mr. Ma Weihua and Mr. Liu Jiren.

I want to say that as an entrepreneur, no one is not far-sighted, constantly opening the door and having executive power. And they can stick to it.

The difference is the opportunity and the environment. The Chinese market has a huge driving force; there are many business management courses in China that can help the next generation of entrepreneurs and are very active. In addition, culture is very important. Before everyone was afraid of failure and not willing to take risks, the young people are not afraid now.

Q: Are Chinese entrepreneurs the same in their imaginative, intellectual desire, curiosity, persistence and other characteristics as their foreign counterparts?

Mark Weinberger: Some of the best people are the same. In terms of the education system, China has indeed laid the foundation for their skills. There is also an enterprise that has become an international entrepreneur in the process of internationalization.

Face the innovation challenge

Q: What are the biggest challenges for Chinese entrepreneurs? The challenge is from the business environment? Internal management of the company? Or other aspects?

Ma Weihua: There are many challenges in this era. For example, the challenges of transformation, the challenges of new technologies, the challenges of globalization, and so on. But I think the biggest challenge is whether the entrepreneur's way of thinking can keep up with this ever-changing situation, because every entrepreneur must determine the products and services according to the needs of the market, can not accurately grasp this trend, can not understand the real society to the enterprise The demand will be eliminated by this era.

Therefore, the change of thinking mode is the most fundamental change.

Q: You just talked about Internet thinking. It is easy to draw a conclusion that the genes of traditional enterprises and the genes of Internet companies are completely different. For the banking industry or other financial industries, what is the biggest difficulty in keeping our thinking transitions changing?

Ma Weihua: Financial Internet and Internet finance now have these two concepts. But I think that in any case, its essence is finance, so the carrier of financial use is different. In the past, it relied on physical outlets, and now it relies on the Internet to cover a wider area. So the most fundamental thing is how to keep your mind up to the ever-changing world.

Liu Jiren: Entrepreneurs as individuals have no way to choose environmental changes, so environmental uncertainty is a normal state. Start-ups often do not have a good environment when they start a business, and the environment is constantly changing during the process of growth. If the company's life is pinned on the environment and placed on the outside, I believe that the company will never have hope. Entrepreneurs should find their own strategies in an uncertain environment—your judgment, your knowledge of your resources, and your understanding of your action plan. Entrepreneurs lose control if they don’t know their own businesses. I believe that there are opportunities for entrepreneurs to survive in any opportunity.

We have no money when we start a business, no one, no market, but what? Have a dream, can turn all pressure into creativity.

Q: This is entrepreneurship. Mark Weinberger, what do you think?

Mark Weinberger: The answer just now is very good. There are two different challenges in China. First, the innovation difficulty of state-owned enterprises and large enterprises is greater than that of small enterprises. The country is focusing on solving this problem; the other is the connectivity of small businesses, including the Internet, data, and numbers, only 25%, and in the Western market, the figure is 75%. I believe that China has much to offer in this regard.

Xu Jinghong: The next few years will be the biggest opportunity for Chinese entrepreneurs. Two aspects, one is that with the decentralization of the administration, with the deepening of the reform, the market will really play a decisive role. For Chinese entrepreneurs, You need to know how to make more in-depth use and grasp of the market. The other is the integration of the global economy, which will enable Chinese companies to have great opportunities to fully integrate into the international market in the next few years, and how Chinese entrepreneurs can lead enterprises to the world.

Shen Boyang: Is the word “entrepreneur” an entrepreneur or an entrepreneur? I personally prefer to speak two words on behalf of Internet entrepreneurs.

Internet entrepreneurship faces many challenges in China. The first challenge is fierce competition. The second challenge is the need for a market economy-led ecosystem. The third challenge is the need for a better legal system. Fourth The challenge is to have a moderate regulatory policy; the fifth challenge is to have a better securitization market. The last challenge is related to the company I am in. The policy of China's openness can continue, which is very helpful for these foreign companies to come to China.

Q: The general framework of Shen is very good, and I will give you a problem. Can you score a few points in the field just mentioned, score separately, and divide it into 10 points.

Shen Boyang: Compared with 10 years ago, the progress is very, very large. In general, many items are around 7 points. But I will play lower scores on securitization. It is very difficult for Internet companies to list in China. Most Internet companies are not profitable, including LinkedIn, which has a market value of $30 billion, but in general, it is almost not profitable. Such a company may not be able to go public in China, and Ali is a similar problem.

Next golden decade

Q: In the next ten years, do you think that there will be innovative companies in China that do not need to imitate but are imitated? Can we really bring something new to the world?

Mark Weinberger: Absolutely, very interesting. If you look at Fortune 500, 47 years ago came from emerging markets, and after 9 years the number was 147. I think that in another ten years, about half of it comes from emerging markets, and Chinese companies will account for a large proportion. I also said just now that there are many great people in the world, with vision and motivation, but now with the emergence of the middle class, with their new way of thinking and operation, they can bring a lot of real markets. Really create a group of great entrepreneurs, we also talk about the role of counselors, tutors, will play a very important role.

Ma Weihua: The so-called situation makes heroes. I used to admire Israel in the past because it has become the world's smallest superpower by innovation. I feel that China has this "potential" today. One is that China's transformation and upgrading will bring a lot of opportunities. Second, the global technological revolution, especially mobile payment will bring subversive changes to our production and life, such as China. There are 500 million mobile phones alone. Third, the market proposed by the Third Plenary Session determines the allocation of resources. This is an unprecedented reform effort. Plus, I have just listened to the speeches of several entrepreneurs, and I am the next innovation. The country is China or full of confidence.

Liu Jiren: I agree with Mr. Ma’s comments. Is China an innovative country? First of all, I think that in the blood of the Chinese people, there is the spirit of creating enterprises that are challenging, innovative, willing to gamble, and willing to win.

In the 30 years of China's reform and opening up, there have been too many opportunities to make money. So from the perspective of capital, why do we have to innovate? It depends on the fact that markets like Israel have no resources and lack of opportunities, but they have promoted innovation. Now China's innovation stage has to start. The reason is that making money is not so easy. It is not easy to buy a mine. It does not make money to buy land. It does not make money to buy stocks. When doing nothing to make money, I am sure that innovation can make money, so this is the beginning of an era of innovation.

Q: These two points are very important.

Xu Jinghong: As far as the size of the company is concerned, in the next decade, China will surely emerge a world-class enterprise. The reason is simple. The Chinese market is too big. But there is also a point, the latest technology that can lead mankind to a better future. Whether China can lead a leading enterprise within ten years, this may have some doubts.

But I believe that 20 years is ok. My favorite is that after 90 years in China today, their thoughts have no embarrassment, and their creativity is unlimited. If you see their thoughts and see their creations, you will have hope for China's future.

Shen Boyang: I personally are very optimistic about China in the next decade. On the one hand, China may become the world's largest economy in less than a decade; the next decade is a golden decade of Chinese entrepreneurship. I personally listened very carefully to Premier Li Keqiang's opening ceremony. Speech. He is full of expectations for China's innovation and entrepreneurship. Specific to the question you just mentioned, I feel that China will not only develop in the future, but now companies such as Baidu, Alibaba and Tencent are constantly innovating and evolving, and are slowly developing in wireless, Internet and cloud computing. Become a leader in the world. Just now Xu also talked about the intentions of entrepreneurs after the 90s. I believe that there will be a world-class leading large-scale startup company in China.
