Abstract: This paper proposes a CAD method for multi-parameter design of complex tools. Taking the design of worm wheel hob as an example, the overall structure and function design of CAD software and data communication between Foxbase+ and VC++ and Autolisp language are introduced.

1 Introduction

In tool design, especially in the design of complex tools, in order to reduce the design workload, shorten the design cycle, and improve the design accuracy, the use of CAD technology is a top priority. Based on the CAD technology of common tools, this paper proposes a CAD method suitable for multi-parameter design of complex tools and develops corresponding CAD software. For complex tools of the same type with different structural dimensions, as long as the known parameters are input, the tool structure size calculation can be automatically performed according to the user's requirements, and the tool design structure diagram can be drawn. The biggest advantage of this software is that it has certain versatility. Compared with interactive drawing software, it can greatly shorten the design cycle, improve the design accuracy, and reduce the design error between similar products. Taking the worm wheel hob parameter design as an example, the overall structure, function design and data communication of the software are introduced.

2. The overall structure of the worm wheel hob parameter design software

The software adopts the structured design method. Firstly, the Foxbase+ database is used for window design and data query and retrieval. Then the VC++ language is used for parameter calculation. Finally, the drawing program compiled by the intelligent parameter drawing language Autolisp is used to draw the hob work diagram. The software execution block diagram is shown in the figure below.

3. Window design and data retrieval

The menu design and table table query of the software adopt Foxbase+ language, Foxbase+ can realize operations such as establishing database and data query, and can realize data operation in data file through program. Therefore, many of the lookups when designing a worm gear hob are done by Foxbase+. In addition, Foxbase+ has a concise menu design feature. The software uses @X, Y SAY "..." statement for menu design, the advantage is that: @...SAY positioning display statement can set any size menu anywhere on the screen, without having to add spaces frequently where no information is displayed. Symbol, so it has some flexibility. Moreover, this statement can make full use of the color functions provided by the hardware environment to make the menu beautiful and eye-catching.
