The University of Sussex's Obrist and his research team are developing a palm hair dryer that produces gusts of different speeds through the ultrasonic speakers, stimulating the nerves in different positions of the palm, creating a variety of emotions. For example, using a short wind to blow the thumb, forefinger and palm, it is exciting, or it is sad to blow the palm and the tail with a slow and gentle wind. If the device is used in conjunction with a TV, it is believed that the user will be more engaged when watching TV.

Obrist and his team published research results at a technology conference in South Korea and were funded to continue their research. They are exploring how to use the senses of smell and sweet, sour, bitter, salty and fresh to enhance the experience of people watching TV. In the long run, they can even help people with sensory functions and obstacles to regain their long-lost sensory feelings.
