Exploring the corrosion behavior of hard aluminum alloy
When Cu is added to aluminum , the strength of the alloy is improved, and the Cu element in the compound lowers the electrode potential of aluminum and also lowers the corrosion resistance. For example, in the slit sheet , the jointless etching , and the Al-Cu alloy of the mask , Mg is added to form an Al-Cu-Mg alloy ( such as LY11, LY12, etc. ) , which is also called a Dura aluminum alloy. In the Al-Cu alloy addition of Mn, constitute the alloys Al-Cu-Mn (e.g., LY16, LY17, etc.). There Al-Cu-Mg-Fe- Ni, AI-Cu-Li, Al-Cu-Mg-Si , and A1-Zn-Mg-Cu series Al-Cu alloy.
In each of the Al-Cu alloys, there are different intermetallic compounds. Among the Al-Cu-Mg alloys, there are mainly CuAI2, CuMgA1: and the like. Among the Al-Cu-Mn alloys, CuA12, CuMn2Al: and the like are mainly present . Among the Al-Cu-Li alloys, there are mainly CuA12, LiCuAI12, Lie Cub A11: and the like. The AI-Cu-Mg-Fe-Ni alloy mainly includes CuMgA12, FeNiAI , and the like. Among the Al-Mg-Si-Cu alloys, there are mainly CuA12, Mgt Si, CU4 Mg5 S14 Al and the like . Among the A1-Zn-Mg-Cu alloys, there are mainly MgZn2, Mg3Zn3Al: and the like.
Among these phases, except M$$2 Si, MgZn2, Mg3 Zn3 Al: etc. belong to the anode phase, and the rest are cathode phases.
Al-Cu alloys have a common corrosion behavior. This series of multi-component aluminum alloys have pitting, intergranular corrosion , stress corrosion and denudation tendency, especially the elastic resistance of the edge of the shrapnel connector is the largest. The intergranular corrosion of this alloy is almost inevitable. When the intergranular precipitation phase is distributed in a small, continuous chain, forming a corrosion channel, the intergranular corrosion tendency of the alloy is more serious. The texture etching of the alloy is often based on intergranular corrosion, and the pitting corrosion uniformity is difficult to control, especially when using the acid-base two-step method for higher roughness etching.
The most used in this series of alloys is LY12 ( American Aluminum Association 2024) . The alloy hard state grade (LY12-Y) has a surface roughness of Ra=1.5 or more after etching with a single alkaline texture , and the brightness and uniformity are excellent. The surface effect of another natural aging grade (LY12-CZ) after etching with a single alkaline texture is comparable to that of an Al-Mn alloy.
