The year 2008 was the year when the country implemented special rectification of 10 major products, including furniture. Since the standard work of furniture in the past always lags behind the development of the industry, this year's standard formulation volume has increased by 10 times compared to last year. This year has approved 13 national standards, 6 industry standards, and another 10 standards are under review. Most of the safety standards require the use of EU national standards, such as office furniture, screens, and home furniture such as double beds; and two important standards have been revised: the national mandatory for safety, health, and personal health. The standard "Limits on the Harmful Substances in Wood Materials for Interior Decoration Materials" and the standards for flame retardancy "Evaluation of the anti-ignition properties of upholstered soft mattresses and sofas for upholstered furniture".
At present, China's furniture industry has 66 standards, including 33 national standards and 33 industry standards, which can basically meet the needs of the entire furniture industry. However, as a whole, the standard age of these standards is too long, and the current standard is lagging behind. It needs urgently to solve this problem in order to adapt to the rapid development of the industry. In addition, the lack of current standards lies in the lack of standards applicable to glass, plastic furniture and furniture manufacturing companies in environmental protection standards, including the production environment of the company. Liu Yuguo said that these aspects need to form a certain standard to constrain the company.
Liu Yuguo believes that domestic large-scale furniture companies are still in the minority, medium-sized enterprises are mostly, coupled with the relatively low quality of employees, the understanding of standards is not very thorough, leading to the status quo of furniture products still unqualified. However, from the 30% increase in the passing rate of furniture products in the fourth quarter of 2002 to 80% today, the overall quality of the industry is still rising. How to do better, bigger, more professional, longer-term, and more able to occupy the market requires companies to think deeply.
He suggested that enterprises should proceed from the following points in terms of standardization: First, furniture companies must strictly enforce the current national or industrial standards, especially mandatory standards; Second, key enterprises should participate in the formulation of relevant standards, most of them were formerly titled. In this way, companies can now actively participate in the standard-setting process and bear the project of this standard. Third, the standards of enterprises, especially export enterprises, must be stricter than those of national standards.
For future work priorities, Liu Yuguo said that it is mainly to focus on the revision and formulation of the 24 national and industry standards that have been issued this year, to further improve the standardization system of the furniture industry and improve its scientific and technological content; to step up the establishment of the National Furniture Standardization Technical Committee At the end of June, a coordination meeting was organized in Shanghai and the committee was set to enter the countdown. At that time, the committee will be composed of furniture manufacturers, distribution companies, related institutions, and consumers as members. Another important task is to do a good job in this year's furniture special rectification process of technical services.
“We have already established the “Eleventh Five-Year†standardization development plan for the furniture industry in 2004. We hope that through the implementation of the plan, it will become the technical support for the economic construction and industrial development of the furniture industry in China and standardize the market order to meet the development of the furniture industry. Improve furniture detection technology and address the needs of domestic and foreign trade terminals, and better protect the legitimate rights and interests of consumers and the health and safety of the body.†said Liu Yuguo.
