The research team led by Chen Ping, a researcher of the Department of Hydrogen Energy and Advanced Materials at the Dalian Institute of Clean Energy of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, found that the lithium imino compound showed excellent catalytic activity for ammonia decomposition, combined with iron nitride. The researchers also further developed a new ammonia decomposition catalyst system that not only explained the role of alkali metal auxiliaries from a new perspective, but also provided new ideas for the design of high-efficiency catalysts, especially for the replacement of noble metal catalysts. Researchers are further optimizing the preparation and catalytic performance of such materials and hope to be able to use them with fuel cell systems in the near future.
