Recently, the team of Wu Zhongshuai, a researcher of the two-dimensional material and energy device research group of the Dalian Institute of Chemical Physics, Chinese Academy of Sciences, and Bao Xinhe, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, have developed a flexible planar sodium ion micro-supercapacitor with high energy density, high flexibility, and high heat resistance .

Miniaturized electrochemical energy storage devices have been widely regarded as the key power sources for flexible, miniaturized, and intelligent integrated electronic products, such as remote sensors, micro robots, and self-powered micro systems. Hybrid micro-supercapacitor is a new type of micro-electrochemical energy storage device due to the combination of the advantages of high energy density of micro-battery and high power density of micro-supercapacitor.

It is reported that the team successfully constructed a flexible planar sodium ion micro-supercapacitor using sea urchin-shaped sodium titanate as a battery-type negative electrode and porous activated graphene as a capacitive positive electrode, combined with a high-pressure ionic liquid gel electrolyte. The sodium ion mini supercapacitor has multi-directional rapid ion diffusion channels, which greatly reduces the charge transfer resistance and significantly increases the power density. At the same time, due to the planar geometry of the device and the non-flammability of the ionic gel electrolyte, the micro-device has good mechanical flexibility and high temperature stability at 80 ° C.
