Deere develops a new automatic guidance system for sprayers

According to US media reports, in order to enable farmers to more accurately move between the ridges during planting tractors in the field to reduce damage to the seedlings, John Deere will install AutoTrac vision devices and AutoTrac on its spray equipment. Inter-sensor device.

“It is well known that the effectiveness of spray equipment will be affected by terrain, weather and crop varieties,” said John Deere engineer Doug Felter. “The sprayers with these two devices will help farmers more effectively in the field. Plant protection operations, spray machinery will also operate more accurately in the ridges, thereby reducing damage to crops, while also greatly reducing the work intensity of agricultural operators and improving work efficiency."

It is understood that after loading the AutoTrac vision device, it is equivalent to installing a monocular camera at the front end of the spray machine, which can detect the ridge distance and guide the machine forward in the ridge. This device has been used in crop planting machines such as corn, cotton, and soybeans to ensure that crop planting ridges remain at 30 inches.

In the later stages of crop growth, farmers can choose the AutoTrac interline sensing device. It can be well applied to plant protection for high-stalk crops such as corn. The device is a sensing device mounted on the wheel of the sprayer to detect information such as crop position, height, etc., to help guide the machine.

“These two sprayer guidance systems are completely self-contained and can be used alone. Tests have shown that these two devices work well under a variety of soil conditions and different crop conditions,” explains Doug Felter. Two automatic guidance devices guide the operator to operate faster and with a cleaner operation, which also ensures the operator's daily working area and reduces damage to crops."

It is reported that the AutoTrac vision device and the AutoTrac interline sensor device can be purchased separately. Both devices have been installed on several types of spray equipment such as R4023, R4030, R4038, and R4045 produced by John Deere.
