Rubber-based waterproof material problems and recommendations (1) rubber-based modified bitumen membrane. SBS modified bitumen membrane is the leading new type of waterproof material currently used in China. The main problem currently exists is market chaos. Counterfeit and shoddy products flood the market, mainly manifested in the use of composite tires as polyester felt, partially or completely replaced by rubber powder. It is recommended that competent authorities at all levels increase efforts to combat counterfeit and shoddy SBS modified bituminous membranes, eliminate the use of composite tires and rubber powders in SBS coils, and promote the use of filament polyester felts and limit the use of short-filament polyester felts. In addition, the current national standards in the I-type index is too low to give counterfeit and inferior products, it is recommended to modify the modified bitumen waterproofing membrane standards as soon as possible, and properly increase the indicators, so that there is no time to drill. Submerged SBS membranes have to increase the water absorption rate to avoid excessive water absorption caused by the water absorption of the carcass.

The foreign standards for modified bitumen membranes are all specified for multi-storey roofing and waterproofing systems. Multilayers are more reliable than single layers. This is the main advantage of modified bituminous coils. China is keen to use it in single layers and it is commonly used. Millimeters thick (specified 4 mm), so that the quality of waterproof construction is often not guaranteed. It is suggested that the concept be changed. It is stipulated in the standard for multi-layered systems and multi-layered systems are promoted in use. When used in a single layer, the thickness must be 4 mm or more, and a layer of oxidized asphalt mat felt should be added.

Various SBS modified bituminous membranes have been developed for different purposes in foreign countries, and the performance is much higher than that of our country's products. There are special products for different purposes such as roofing, bridges, and waterproofing, but our country's SBS varieties are singular and lack special products. It is suggested to strengthen the research and development work, develop SBS coils for various purposes according to different requirements, and form diversified SBS waterproofing membranes.

In summary, foreign SBS has grown to nearly 100 varieties, and its quality has also improved, which is much less than that of our country. It is recommended that the rubber industry strengthen its technical innovation efforts and work hard to develop or introduce new varieties such as SB, SIS, SEBS and new varieties with better high and low temperature performance.

Foreign self-adhesive SBS modified coils are classified into underground and roofing applications, underground uses no tyres, roofing uses tires, and all performance requirements are high. The development of self-adhered coils in China is relatively late. The underground waterproof technical specifications are limited to the use of tires with SBS and APP modified bituminous membranes. The newly revised roofing technical specification has already mentioned the use of self-adhered coils, but no specific provisions have been made. The self-adhesive membrane index that has been issued is lower than that of foreign countries, and just started, price competition has begun, resulting in a decline in the quality of some products and unsatisfactory long-term adhesion. Recommended foreign experience, in the standard clear underground suitable for non-tire products, roofing with tires, and put forward high standards of technical requirements (such as low temperature flexibility to -30 * C), the product to ensure long-term bonding function, Eliminating the listing of counterfeit and inferior products.

Low-quality products over high-quality products, there are misunderstandings. In recent years, China's polymer waterproofing membranes have made significant progress, but the technical problems appear to be even more than the modified asphalt membranes. The first is the low price of polyethylene-polypropylene composite waterproofing membranes with low prices and low investment in equipment. Many manufacturers have adopted this type of products, resulting in a rapid increase in production. When the annual sales volume exceeds 50 million, it is far ahead of the products advocated by the government. The development of advanced products such as EPDM and PVC.

Second, there is a problem in understanding, and the evaluation of the function and durability of the polymer coil is too high, and a new understanding needs to be made. According to the results of a U.S. expert's study, the durability of polymer coils is not as optimistic as we had previously estimated. The quality of the products of large manufacturers in China generally meets the standards, but some small manufacturers who come late will produce a lot of inferior products that need to be combated and stopped.

China's EPDM has only a single long-term product. It is only 1.2 meters wide in width and has no wide-width products. It is only homogenous in its variety, and it is not reinforced and backed. It is limited to the construction method, and it is mechanically fixed. Law and loose paved top method are rarely used. It is recommended that enterprises pay attention to technological innovation and increase investment in research and development. It is recommended to develop reinforced and back-lined products and actively adopt mechanical fixing methods and loose-sandwich pressing methods.

Although the supporting materials for EPDM have progressed, they are still not complete enough, such as no special flooding materials, protective coatings, fixtures, and construction equipment. It is suggested that U.S. experience develop various supporting materials and construction equipment to form a complete material supporting system.

China’s long-term belief in the judgment of Japanese technicians suggests that EPDM can be used for 50-70 years. The actual situation is far from this. Table 6 and Table 7 show that the average service life of EPDM roofs is only 14.2 years. Durability under 17*C and 27*C heat loads was 15.4 years and 12.0 years, respectively. The experience of the United States is worth learning from. The heat aging test conditions of American black products are 670 hours at 116C, and the products have been improved. As a result, durability has increased. Large manufacturers have provided a guarantee period of 20 years. The heat aging conditions in our country are only 168 hours under 80C, and there is a big gap. It is recommended to increase the test requirements and continuously improve the quality of products in order to help extend the life of the roof and the export of products.

EPDM is mainly used for roofing, but it can also be used underground. The requirements of the two are different. It is recommended to produce underground-specific products and develop EPDM standards for underground use.

The quality of EPDM raw materials in China is not as good as that of foreign manufacturers. It is recommended that improvements be made to improve the quality of EPDM materials to replace foreign products.

Butyl rubber waterproofing membrane. China knows very little about butyl rubber waterproofing membranes and produces few products. At present, only one company produces, the standard is not standardized, and the index is low. In fact, butyl rubber waterproofing membranes are suitable for waterproofing underground because of their airtightness and watertightness. The overall functional capability is better than that of EPDM, and the roofing is inferior to EPDM. Therefore, it is recommended to pay attention to the development of butyl rubber waterproofing for underground waterproofing. Coil and the United States standard (ASTMD6134-97), developed China's underground waterproof butyl rubber waterproof membrane industry or national standards.

TPO waterproofing membrane. TPO waterproofing membranes have the advantages of both rubber and plastics, and have excellent performance. It is the most sustainable waterproof material with the most environmental protection and the most comprehensive performance in waterproofing membranes. It is naturally favored by all countries and has developed rapidly. However, due to the high prices in China and the lack of production in domestic raw materials, most companies generally adopt a wait-and-see attitude despite long-term propaganda. Only one company has developed this product and has produced homogeneous products. It is still not fully in line with the United States' newly issued ASTM standard, which has a wide gap with foreign countries.

It is recommended to have more waterproof material companies, to recognize the advantages of this product, to involve in the development and production of TPO, to build a 2 meter wide production facility first, so that this kind of product with good prospects for development can also form a certain market scale in China. .

According to foreign experience, TPO waterproof material has three kinds of homogenization, reinforcement and backing type. The most popular and successful use of enhanced type is to suggest that the product development should be based on enhanced type.

TPO materials for TPO waterproofing materials are not yet available in China. In order to meet China's need to develop such products, it is recommended that Chinese petrochemical companies introduce foreign equipment and technologies for the production of such raw materials as soon as possible to lay the foundation for their development. At present, the use of raw materials for foreign companies is relatively stable, and the development process of EPDM waterproofing membranes is roughly the same, making TPO waterproof membranes a good start.

Polyurethane waterproof coating. China's polyurethane waterproof coating production has a considerable scale, the current priority is to adhere to the standard, two-component reaction type, should not add or less solvent, strive to reach 95% or more solid content, construction should not be added solvent To prevent fire or personal accidents. One-component benzene solvents should be banned and there should be strict regulations on VOC content. It is recommended to promote and improve the existing water-curing polyurethane waterproof coatings and develop new varieties of polyurethane, such as exposed PU waterproof coatings.

Acrylic waterproof coating. Acrylic waterproof coating should use elastomer-based acrylic emulsion as base material, and strive to improve the paint's anti-pollution, to avoid the problem of discoloration in the short term. It is recommended to study the special products needed for roof and wall surfaces. The problem of wall penetration currently occurs from time to time, and it is recommended to study new acrylic and silicone-based wall surface repair waterproof coatings.

Spray polyurethane foam on site. China's on-site injection of polyurethane foam has a low closed cell porosity, which can not reach more than 95% of the closed cell rate. It can only be said that it is a thermal insulation material and cannot be considered as a thermal insulation and waterproof integrated material.
