British Development Enables New Technologies for Remote Wireless Charging
The University of Leeds in the United Kingdom released a message on the 29th saying that researchers at the university are working with other institutions to develop new technologies that use microwave beams to remotely charge robots and other digital devices. The project was conducted by researchers from the University of Leeds, King's College London and Lancaster University. Once related technologies are mature, they are expected to be used in many fields such as defense, environmental monitoring, and intelligent transportation. As early as the 19th century, scientists proposed the theory of wireless charging technology and conducted experiments. Nowadays, smart phones and other devices in the hands of people have partially achieved wireless charging, but the biggest problem is still the distance. The wireless charger on the market still needs to contact the mobile phone to start charging. Therefore, this project will mainly explore the possibility of remote wireless charging. Using current breakthroughs in antenna array technology, the research team will develop systems that use robotically controlled microwave beams to remotely wirelessly charge robots. Ian Roberson, who is involved in the project, said that with advanced signal processing, wireless networking, and microwave engineering technologies, controlled microwave beams can secure remote energy transmission.
